An Introduction to Bungee Jumping
Bungee jumping is one of the most extreme sports that people take part in worldwide. The first attempt at this extreme sport was in 1979 when a ‘dangerous sports’ team from England devised the bungee device that is still in use today. The first bungee jump was made successfully from the Clifton Suspension Bridge.
“Awesome Extreme Sport”
In 1986 a man named A.J. Hackett did his first jump in New Zealand. He went on to jump off a number of important buildings including the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Not long after this, bungee jumping really came into its own as an extreme sport and is now a popular activity throughout the world for extreme sports lovers. But how safe really is it? And what are the odds of dying in a bungee jumping accident?
Due to the high risk element associated with the sport, chemists and physicists are constantly striving to make improvements in the make up of bungee cord. The bungee cord
You might consider slacklining to be a very modern sport that meets the demands of today’s society: flexibility, creativity, relaxation, concentration, stability and, of course, having fun. If you want to feel all of the above, then you should pick a slackline kit and you will see that you will get the ideal space to use it in an innovative way: through creative movement in the middle of the nature, surrounded by trees, air and sky. This sport can also be practiced indoors, like fitness rooms or sports centers.
“What Is Slackline?”
Slacklining was initially intended to be done outdoors and most populations that practice this sport respect the importance of performing it in a free environment, without restrains like walls. This sport must be done in a place where you can feel free, where others are walking around you and admiring your effort. When the people around you are starting to gather to observe you, then it is the moment that you become an artist. You officially become the artist of a sport that is accessible to everyone
Many foreign visitors to Peru are happy with a relaxing few days travelling around ancient Inca archaeological sites, kicking-back in luxury hotels, and riding exclusive trains to Machu Picchu. But if your dream getaway is a taking things to the max in search of extreme thrills and fun, then you won’t be disappointed either! Peru can offer it all! Here are the 5 best extreme sports in Peru.
Extreme Mountain Biking
Peru was made for mountain biking, after all the Andes – the world’s longest mountain chain runs right down the centre of the country, peaking at 22,132 feet (6,746 m) in the Cordillera Blanca in central Peru. Possibly one of the most extreme sports in Peru with locals and foreigners alike, there are literally thousands of places to find fast fun down-hill thrills. In Cusco there is a handful of specialist travel agents that offer a range of different day (and multi-day) trips, with full suspension Kona bikes. Our favourite extreme ride is the 1 day Mega-Avalanche single track ride, that starts at the top of Abra Malaga in the Sacred Valley (close to Cusco) and descends 1600 meters
Studies show that participation in a sport gives us the motivation to get and stay in shape. But what sport? Many of us grew up participating in team sports such as football, basketball, baseball, softball or soccer. Now, as adults, it is hard to get a group together to play these sports so we need to find an activity which we can participate in alone or with our life partner. Running, walking, biking, paddling, swimming and weight lifting are activities that come to mind which can be done solo or with our partner. However, we often become bored with these activities and find ourselves wanting to take a look at elevating them to another, more extreme level.
Running can be taken to what some would consider the extreme level by participating in a marathon which is 26 plus miles, or even to the more extreme level of ultra-marathon which is 50 or even 100 miles. If the individual is prepared, the benefits of long distance running are great for both mental and physical health. That’s not to say you will run fast, but with training and will power you can finish and feel
Space diving is when a person jumps from a plane or spacecraft high enough to enter the Earth’s atmosphere. According to a 2007 article in the Telegraph out of the United Kingdom, this extreme sport will soon become a popular daredevil sport just like bungee jumping and skydiving.
In 1960 US Air Force captain Joe Kittinger jumped from an altitude of 20 miles and reached a speed of 700 miles while diving from space. Now skydiving enthusiasts want to break this record. Those who wish to engage in this extreme sport should also be aware that the risk of death is very likely and so far 22 people have died while trying to do this.
There are a few brave persons that are willing to do space diving. Daredevil Felix Baumgartner plans to achieve this goal during the summer and he wants to leap from a height of 36 kilometers above New Mexico according to the Space Exploration Network. Baumgartner also feels that with his projected victory he’ll get people interested in space diving as an extreme sport.
Because diving from low earth orbit (LEO) is an
When you think of sports what do you think of? Maybe you think of football, soccer, basketball or baseball. Well, in the world of sports there is much more than just the classic sports you always hear about.

Let’s take a look at these sports and who knows, maybe you’ll find one your interested in and take on a whole new lifestyle.
1. The first sport on our list is motocross. I am sure you know what this is but incase you don’t, it’s when a lot of people race dirt bikes around a man-made track with jumps, whoops, berms and many more features. This is extremely fast paced and exciting to watch.
What is even more exciting is actually participating in the sport. It is a little expensive to start but it is an investment that keeps
If you’re interested in extreme sports like Motocross, skateboarding, BMX or snowboarding, then you’ll want to read about how to show your fan pride with extreme sports wall decals. After reading this article, you should be able to see how to show your sports enthusiasm with removable wall decals.
Hang Them Anywhere
The really cool thing about wall graphics is that they can be applied to any clean smooth surface. And because they’re made to be restuck to walls and surfaces, you can take them down and move them to other locations.
Stands up to Hard Use
Wall decals for kids are going to get touched. They’re going to get dirty. They’re going to be hanging on the wall in direct sunlight day in and day out. Extreme sports wall decals are up to the task. They’re fade resistant. They’re easy to clean, and they’re durable and will stand up to being touched and moved often.
If you’re really into extreme sports like motocross, what could be better than getting a larger than life image of Brian Deegan soaring hands free and upside down
There are a lot of people who engage in sports. You can join sports to enjoy and have some fun and at the same time have a healthy body. Swimming, basketball, soccer, tennis and volleyball are some of the popular sports today.
Nowadays extreme sports has grown so popular to a lot of people especially with the young group. A lot of people got hooked with the thrill and excitement that they can get from it. Even though accidents and death are always possible, there are still a lot people who enjoy engaging in this kind of sport.
Actually, extreme sports have been around for decades already. It has grown so popular nowadays because of the increasing demand for exciting activities among teenagers. Mountain climbing, skateboarding, sky diving, surfing and diving are some of the most popular in this category.
Just to let you know, skateboarding was actually formulated by the surfers for them to practice and train while there is no enough waves to surf. You must realize that some extreme sports actually came from regular sports that you know. They just made it risky and
Extreme sports are sports filled with fun and adventure. When you are out playing a specific type of extreme sport, you feel the intense adrenaline rush and the loud beat of your heart. Every inch of you is getting weak especially when it is your first time to play the game. You will be facing pressure and most of all expectations from the one who supports and believes in you and most especially to those who are watching you. This is the real scenario when you are still a beginner on a certain type of extreme sport.
You will definitely learn to love the chosen extreme sport once you already got a hang of it. It will already be easy for you to do stunts and tricks and you will no longer feel weak every time you step out of the arena or the field where the sport is being played. The main key in order for you to become and feel like a professional is constant practice. Practice makes everything perfect. Though there is no such thing as perfect but at least you are close to achieving a smooth and beautiful performance.
It goes without saying that humans love to watch the X-games on TV – those extreme sport athletes on skateboards, bungees, motorcycles, parachutes, stunt planes, and what not. Often we see these dare devils as Red Bull addicted thrill seekers with a death wish, who knows maybe some are. Yes, they are adrenaline junkies if there ever was such a thing. Of course, all these extreme sports are done here on Earth, but in the future, extreme sports will follow humankind as he boldly goes to other worlds as well.
Science fiction writer Ben Bova once described sporting events that might be played on an asteroid, and even Carl Sagan made some comments about extreme sports being played on asteroids. Consider if you will a human attached to a giant bungee cord running across a spinning asteroid and jumping as far and as hard as he could to escape it’s small Gravity Dwell (escape velocity), and then floating in space behind the asteroid until the bungee cord stretched out and pulled him back?
But extreme sports on asteroids are not the only types of extreme sports which will be conquered
Love to be outdoors, but feeling trapped by the rain? Don’t fret: there are a plethora of activities one can do in spite of the wet weather. Read on for a few ideas.
Also known as table soccer or table football, foosball offers great fun for 2 to 4 players. Passing the mini-ball around makes for great time to catch up with friends and family.
If more than 4 people want to play, create a championship tournament with players competing against each other one-on-one. Winning players are paired off until only two remain for the final foosball championship face-off.
Rainy Day Walks or Hikes
Rain transforms the world outside, so rainy day walks or hikes are an experience to be savored. Take the stance of many devoted runners, who are fond of saying that there is no bad running weather, only poorly prepared runners. Get yourself a waterproof outfit and venture out. Let wet-weather birdcalls enchant you, and allow fresh, clean smells to energize you. If a trail has a thick canopy of trees overhead, the rain sometimes seems like
Precise and powerful footwork in rock climbing often makes the difference between sticking a move and falling off the wall. All too often I have the finish of a boulder problem within reach, only to have my foot slip out from under me.
As routes get more difficult, it is increasingly necessary to have great footwork. This means trusting in your feet to provide balance, stability, and propulsion on even the tiniest of footholds.
This coordination can be very difficult, especially when you’re tired and technique begins to falter. However, with correct training, good footwork can become second nature. This will get you up the wall faster, with less time spent thinking about your feet. Overall, this will take more strain off your arms and leave you energy and strength for harder climbs.
What is slacklining?
Slacklining is the sport of balancing on a narrow piece of webbing suspended between two anchors. This is different from traditional tightrope walking in two ways. First, the webbing is flat instead of rounded like a rope. This provides a better surface to balance on. Second, webbing is
I recently spent some time looking at the slackline products that Gibbon makes and wanted to share what I discovered. Being somewhat new to the sport I ended up buying the Classic. I’ve had it for several months now and am very happy with my choice.
Gibbon makes several different slacklines. Their main product is the Classic. The other options are the Jibline, the Surfline, and the Funline. They are all 2″ wide but some vary in the type of webbing material, which makes them more or less bouncy. They do sell 1″ webbing, but a lot of people prefer the 2″ webbing and I think it’s definitely a little easier to balance on.
After checking out their different slacklines and owning one myself, I can recommend choosing the Classic. It’s really their main product, the most basic and the best price.
It comes in a 49 ft or 82 ft length. I went with the 49 ft length and have not found that I needed it any longer. If it’s shorter, it’s a little easier to balance on. You can make either length as short as
Slacklining is a new sport that involves a lot of balance to walk on a line. This sport is like walking on a tight rope, but the rope that people use is different. There is a lot of information that people can read about on how to start in this sport.
When people want to look for something fun to do, and to get a good workout doing it, this sport will do both. This sport has a nylon line that is about one inch thick, that consists of a nylon webbing material. This material stretches out when pressure is applied to it. When people walk on the line, it will stretch out, giving the line slack.
People who want to create their own rope can do so, but they need to have a type of webbing material, as well as carabiners. They need two objects that the rope can tie to. People often use a ratchet system, or a winch to secure the line.
If people do not want to make their own line and tension system, there are places that people can buy the gear
I just started slacklining and bought one of the Gibbon slacklines and I have been loving it. Slacklining is a great sport for kids and adults and it is really easy to get in to. It’s a great challenge, gives you a good workout and is a lot of fun. I highly recommend giving it a try.
I’d like to share a few reasons why I decided to go with the Gibbon slackline. If you’re looking at buying a slackline I can highly recommend Gibbon. I’ve had mine now for several months and am very happy with my purchase.
Here’s why I chose one of the Gibbon Slacklines:
I looked around the web some before buying a slackline to see what my options were and to try to find the best value for my money. Most of them are made very similar, so it didn’t take me long to see that price was really the main factor for me in this purchase.
I should tell you that it is possible to set up your own slackline, but you do have to buy webbing and
Slacklining isn’t something you hear very much about these days, because people see it more as tightrope walking. It is when one walks across a strap usually one inch across, anchored down between two points. Some do it with the strap close to the ground, some do it a couple feet higher, like circus performers. Slacklining, is the cousin of tightrope walking and is an unusual hobby for many.
The tightness of the strap can be adjusted by the person using it. The line is flat to keep the person’s feet from slipping around when they walk. Even though the line is adjusted to the person’s liking, it is still bouncy like a trampoline. The flatness of it makes it easy for the walker to perform tricks and stunts to amuse others.
Trees are used the most as anchors for the sport. Trees with a large trunk are best to use for tying lines. There are methods used to protect the bark and the trunk of the tree as well when this is done.
There are different styles of slacklining as well. One of them is called
What is slacklining?
Slacklining is a way to balance and/or walk between two points, often trees, on tensioned webbing usually an inch or two wide. Many people think it is the same as tightrope walking but it’s more like walking on a really skinny trampoline. The slackline will sway back and forth and bounce up and down as you walk across. It not only tests your focus and determination but is also a great core and lower body workout.
There are a few different styles of slacklining that include tricklining, slackline yoga, highlining, rodeo slacklining, waterlining and windlining. Each brings about its own set of new challenges.
Tricklining is a very popular style of slacklining that usually done low to the ground. Trickliners showcase an impressive array of technical flips and tricks. The tricks range in difficulty. Some of the more simple tricks include walking forward and backward, turning around, dropping to a knee and jumping onto the line from the ground. The more advanced tricks include jumping, surfing, back and chest bouncing, flips and spins.
Slackline yoga is when you do yoga poses
Have you seen trapeze artists walking on a tight rope and balancing themselves precariously in circuses and in local village fairs? I am sure you watched with fascinated awe and with bated breath as the artists performed their daredevil stunts!
Well, there is a name for this daredevilry – Slacklining. It is a sport where a small flat sturdy rope usually made of nylon is tied between two points or two trees. In this dynamic game called Slacklining, you are required to balance yourself and walk down this rope from one point to another point.
Slacklining is normally practiced in city parks, in your backyard or garden, in countryside farmhouse gardens, on university campuses and the more gutsy ones of the lot practice their dare bare tight rope walks some 3000 feet above the level of the ground.
And why do people do it? As you can understand, Slacklining is a fun activity for those who seek adventure and thrill. Some people pursue this sport for obvious athletic and sporting benefits. There are also people who are followers of this sport for a meditative objective.
Obviously, people have been doing balancing activities forever. Although the term slackline is new, it’s not really a new thing. Kids and adults are naturally drawn to try to balance on things. I can’t walk by a retaining wall or guard rail with my kids without one of them wanting to climb on it and usually they want to hold my hand so they don’t fall.
Over the years, people have done tight rope walking and other feats of balance. The cool thing about slacklining is that it’s provided a safer and easier way for a lot of people to enjoy the sport of balancing.. Most people haven’t had access to a tight rope and a lot of other things that are available to balance on are too high and too hard to be safe. Those factors have not stopped some of us from risking life and limb to try it anyway. But now with slacklines, there is a better option.
The actual sport of slacklining got off the ground in the rock climbing mecca of Yosemite National Park back in the 70’s. I guess the rock climbers there needed
